2 security men martyred in terrorists attack: DPO

JAMRUD: Two security personnel were martyred during terrorists attack on a police check post in Khyber tribal district.

Khyber District Police Officer (DPO) Salim Abbas Klachi while confirming the incident said that two security personnel including a policeman and FC man were martyred in a pre dawn terrorist attack. The outlaws used rocket launchers and heavy weapons during the assault on Takhtabag check-post.

He praised the bravery of police and FC troops for sucessfully repulsing the attack. Police and FC have shown bravery and resilience in confronting the attackers, forcing them to retreat under the cover of darkness. DPO Klachi said that police responded with heavy weapons fire, forcing the terrorists to flee. The intense exchange of fire lasted for approximately 10 minutes. Following the attack, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation.

The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the entire nation is united to eliminate the scourge of terrorism. In a statement on Monday, he appreciated police and frontier constabulary for thwarting a terrorist attempt in Takhta Beg area of Khyber District.

He paid tributes to police personnel Ijaz and FC personnel Shehzad who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country while fighting terrorists. Praying for the elevated status of martyrs, the Prime Minister condoled with the bereaved families. He noted that the country’s armed forces, police and law enforcement agencies have rendered countless sacrifices for peace in the country. He said the nation is proud of its martyrs and their families.

Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has paid rich tribute to the bravery of FC and police personnel for foiling terrorist attack on police checkpost in Takhta Beg area of district Khyber by laying down their lives.

In a statement on Monday, the interior minister said that the national will always remember the sacrifices of martyred FC man Shahzad and Shaheed Police official Ejaz who rendered their lives while fighting against terrorists. Mohsin Naqvi was of the view that the brave officers and jawans of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and FC have played a significant role in the war against terrorism.

He praised the bravery of Shaheed FC man Shahzad and Shaheed Police official Ejaz, who fearlessly thwarted the terrorists’ attack. He said that the nation salutes the sacrifices of the two martyrs who laid down their lives fighting against terrorism. The interior minister further said that the sacrifices of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and FC will never be forgotten.

“Brave officers and jawans of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and FC have played a key role in the war against terrorism,” he added. Mohsin Naqvi said that the nation was united and determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
