2 soldiers martyred, 7 injured in Kurram checkpost attack

F.P. Report

KURRAM: A terrorist attack was carried out from across the Afghan border on a security forces’ checkpost in Hasan Mela, Kurram, resulting in the martyrdom of two soldiers and injuries to seven others.

According to reports surfaced on Thursday, the assailants launched the attack from Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, targeting the checkpost located in the Lukman Khel Tangi area of Hussain Mela, which lies adjacent to the border.

Following the incident, local tribal members formed a militia (lashkar) and managed to apprehend one of the armed attackers. In a video statement made in front of the militia, the captured militant confessed that weapons had been supplied to the Taliban to carry out the attack.

It is worth noting that the local tribes had surrendered their heavy weapons to the government following a peace agreement. MNA Hameed Hussain has urged the government to officially provide arms to the tribes in border areas for national defence.
