KABUL: Afghan defense ministry on Tuesday claimed 20 anti-government gunmen were killed and 22 others wounded during separate ground and aerial engagements.
Of the 20 fighters, 18 were killed in the Pashtunkot district of northern Faryab province, the defense ministry said in a statement. It said the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Ghazni, Logar, Farah, Takhar, Faryab, Balkh, Baghlan, Nimroz and Helmand provinces. There was no word by Taliban or any other armed group in this regard.
