Monitoring Desk

JALALABAD: More than two dozens of Daesh gunmen were killed after a drone strike in the bordering Achin district of Nangarhar province, police said Wednesday.

The NATO-led foreign forces’ unmanned aircraft bombed Daesh hideout in Sheen Chobi area of Mamond Dara, Achin district, yesterday, killing 25 gunmen, said Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, spokesman of Nangarhar police.

He told AIP that the Daesh hideout was also destroyed in the strike that did not harm civilians.

Daesh has fortified bases in the Achin district and conduct attacks in other areas of the country from this district. The dreaded group recently seized some areas in the Khugyani district, forcing nearly 10000 families to move to safer places.

Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani while addressing Heart of Asia conference few days ago said the Daesh was on verge of elimination in Afghanistan and has lost foreign support.
