25th death anniversary of Hamza Baba commemorated

LANDI KOTAL: Twenty fifth death anniversary of renewed Pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan was observed here in Landi Kotal last day. In this connection a joint gathering was organized under the banners of Hamza Baba Adabi Jirga and Shelman Adabi Jirga in jirga hall, Landi Kotal last day and was attended by prominent poets and literary figures including Laiq Zada Laiq, Dr Yar Muhammad Mughmoom along with hundreds of Pashto poetry lovers.

The speakers remembered and highlighted great services of Hamza Baba rendered by him for the up lift of Pashto language and Ghazal writing and paid rich tribute to him through their prose and poetry. Dr Yar Muhammad Maghmoom was the chief guest on the occasion.

In the same way, a similar moot in the connection of 25th death anniversary of Hamza Baba, was held in his shrine in Landi Kotal on previous day and was arranged by Khyber Pashto Adabi Jirga. The literary gathering was comprised in two sessions. In the first part Prof-Tawab Shah Masroor and Aslam Taseer read out their research papers on the Pashto legend Poet Ameer Hamza Shinwari life, poetry and aestheticism.

In the second session participants’ poets and scholar including Imran Aseer, Kandahar Afridi, Lutfullah Khyal, Muqadar Shah Arif Bangush and others presented their prose and ghazals while remembering the pioneer of Pashto modern ghazal. It is to be mentioned here that Hamza Baba who is famous as Baba-e-Ghazal of Pashto passed away on 18 February 19, 1994.
