285 health centers to be built in country: Official

KABUL (TOLOnews): Qalandar Ebad, Acting Minister of Public Health, while visiting Uruzgan said that the plan to build at least 285 health centers in several provinces is being implemented.
Ebad, who went to Uruzgan to assess the health problems of the people, confirmed in a meeting that Afghanistan is currently facing a shortage of doctors and that the ministry is trying to request trained and professional doctors from abroad.
“Approximately 285 new centers are planned to be built,” Qalandar Ebad said. The Acting Minister of Public Health said the construction of medical centers is important in providing standard health services to citizens.
In Uruzgan, he also announced the continuation of the efforts of the Islamic Emirate to treat drug addicts. “For now, we are trying to bring trained specialists and doctors from outside to treat our patients and train our doctors as well,” Ebad said.
Ebad said that along with the shortage of treatment beds, 45,000 medical beds are needed to treat patients across the country; But current hospitals only have up to 12,000 beds.
“Almost 12,000 medical beds are currently in the hospitals of the country and now we want to increase it to 45,000, it needs efforts to improve the capacity as well,” the acting minister added. The Acting Minister of Public Health in Uruzgan continues to assure the continuation of the Islamic Emirate’s efforts to treat drug addicts in the country.
