Over 3,500 foreign soldiers killed in Afghan conflict

KABNUL (Pajhwok): As many as 3,546 foreign forces have been killed in Afghanistan as US led coalitions war in Afghanistan already entered 17th year.

Of the total killed foreign soldiers in Afghanistan, 2,408 are US service-member, 455 British and 158 Canadian troops had been leading in fatalities, according to icasualties website which has the account of foreign troops killed or wounded in Afghanistan since the launch of war back in 2001.

In 2001, first year of US-led foreign forces presence in Afghanistan 12 US forces were killed and following is the number of causalities in the years ahead: 2002: 70; 2003: 58; 2004: 60; 2005: 131; 2006: 191; 2007: 232; 2008: 295; 2009: 521; 2010: 711; 2011: 566; 2012: 402; 2013: 161; 2014: 75; 2015: 27; 2016: 16; 2017: 17; and 2018: 1.

According to the website, more foreign troops had been killed in Helmand (957), than Kandahar (561) and in the third stage Kabul (191).

The source said over 17,000 US troops had been injured in until September 2012, but there was no figure of injured soldiers from coalition countries.

According to the New US strategy military action against the insurgents would be increased. The new strategy also asked Pakistan to take decisive action against insurgents.
