3rd Kabul Process moot to be held next month: MoFA

KABUL: The Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Idrees Zaman met with Special Representative of the UN Secretary General (UNSRSG) Ambassador Tadamichi Yammoto Monday morning, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

Ambassador Yamamoto called on Deputy Minister Zaman to discuss the upcoming 3rd meeting of the Kabul Process.

The two sides discussed and exchanged views on the agenda, participation and other relevant details of the meeting, tentatively planned for February 28th, this year.

Deputy Foreign Minister Zaman briefed the UNSRSG on the agenda of the meeting; highlighting the messages and objectives of the important event, in light of the 2nd Kabul Process meeting and progress made thereon.

Welcoming the idea of the 3rd Kabul Process meeting, Ambassador Yamamoto called the convening of the event as ‘timely’.

The Deputy Foreign Minister and the UN Special Representative exchanged views on the details of this important meeting.

The 2nd Kabul Process meeting, held last year, focused on peace where the Afghan President offered unconditional peace negotiation to the Taliban. (Pajhwok)
