4 died amid dengue fever outbreak in Nangarhar

JALALABAD CITY (TOLOnews): At least four people have died of dengue fever amidst the outbreak of the viral disease in the province where officials said 26 people have been infected with the virus in the last two weeks.
Officials said that the cases have been reported in remote districts of the province that share a border with Pakistan.
“New cases of the viral disease have been reported in three districts of Nangarhar,” the provincial public health director Mawlawi Ata-ur-Rahman Fatih said. “Over 40 people have been tested and 26 of them have tested positive for the virus.”
Officials said women and children are among hospitalized patients in Door Baba district in Nangarhar who have been infected with the viral disease.
“I have vomiting, high fever and back pain,” said Khadija, a patient.
“My family members and I and some of other people are suffering from this disease. I am sick since last night and the people around here are not in good financial status to visit doctor,” said Sohail, a patient from Door Baba district.
Doctors said that to prevent this illness, there is a need to keep distance from infected mosquitoes that transmit the disease.
Doctors say that this illness is common in tropical and semitropical areas but it’s not infectious and that only the person who has been bitten by mosquito gets infected.
Dengue fever is also called “breakbone fever” because of severe pain it feels like the bones are breaking. Fever, headache, muscle and joint pains are its symptoms.
It is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection.
