4 executions cccurred since IE takeover: SC

KABUL (TOLOnews): The Supreme Court says that 4 executions have taken place in the country since the Islamic Emirate took power.

The head of the publication and foreign relations department of the Supreme Court, Abdul Rahim Rashid, said that the executions have been implemented in Farah, Laghman, and Ghazni provinces.

According to Rashid, the executions were carried out after the evaluations of three courts and the approval of the leader of the Islamic Emirate.

Tajmir, accused of murder, was executed in 2022 on November 7; Ajmal, who was accused of the murder of five people, was executed on June 21, 2023, and two more people who were accused of murder were executed on February 22, 2024.

“The first execution was implemented of a murderer in Farah province, the second was implemented in Laghman on another murderer, and the same was implemented on two murderers from Andar of Ghazni and from Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak, the God’s decree which means execution was implemented in the presence of thousands of people,” Rashid told TOLOnews.

Meanwhile, several legal analysts and Islamic scholars emphasized the need for caution and due process in implementing executions and with related issues.

“The punishment should be based on the penal law, which is based on the representatives of the people, and the people know the values of the society, and how the violator should be punished,” said Mohammad Asif Faqiri, a legal analyst.

“The condition which is necessary for the implementation of execution is the presence of a governmental system, execution cannot be implemented individually and tribally, so an Islamic system is necessary to dominate the entire geography,” said Hasibullah Hanafi, an Islamic scholar.

Earlier the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and Amnesty International in reaction to the execution of two people in Ghazni asked the Islamic Emirate to stop all kinds of executions in the country.
