PESHAWAR: About 415 patients have been tested positive for dengue in the 41 dengue screening health camps organized by Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar and adjacent districts.
However in a total of 4230 outpatient department (OPD), 2212 patients were examined in which 415 among them were tested positive for dengue, said PRCS KP Health Manager, Dr Babar Jadoon while talking to media on Sunday.
He said the health camps were organized in Peshawar, Mardan and Mansehra in coordination with the health department and district administration. The PRCS KP also distributed about 4,000 mosquito nets in Peshawar as a precautionary measure to curtail dengue disease, he said.
Explaining the dengue awareness campaigns of PRCS KP, Dr Babar Jadoon said to sensitize the general population, 504 seminars were held in educational institutes and communities in 14 districts of KP in which over 20160 people participated.
Similarly, over 6,000 houses were reached in door-to-door campaign and awareness pamphlets distributed among the dwellers. While over 27,000 brochures were circulated in markets, shops, and on different traffic signals.
Speaking about evolving future line of action, he informed that up to 100 more health camps would be held for screening of the disease while the awareness campaign would continue till November, 2017.
