411 illegal gas connections disconnected: GM SNGPL

PESHAWAR: General Manager Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) Arbab Saqib on Monday  said 1150 feet illegal gas pipeline, 411 illegal gas connections and 71 tampered gas  meters have been disconnected from several rural areas of Peshawar region during  the 10-day campaign against gas pilferers.

The rural areas of Peshawar included Serband, Achini Mera, Bahadar Kali,  Landi Arbab, Pishtakhara, Regi Lalma, Village Regi, Tehkal Payan, Pando and  adjacent areas.

Four FIRs have been lodged and 14 applications have been registered in  various police stations for FIRs.

Arbab Saqib said during joint operation with Districts Administrations of Karak  and Kohat, one illegal plaster of Paris factory and eight commercial gas connections  were disconnected and FIRs have been lodged against its owners.

The GM Sui gas further informed that special task force teams have been  constituted against gas pilferage and the operation will continue in all rural parts  of Peshawar and other Districts in southern parts with more intensity.

He also informed that the newly constructed sales meter station for low pressure  areas like Industrial estate Hayatabad, University Road, Ring Road, Nasir Bagh road,  had been commissioned which has resolved the low gas pressure complaints  considerably.
