45-year-old woman dies of Coronavirus

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: A 45-year-old woman died from the coronavirus in western Herat province on Wednesday, the Health Ministry confirmed.

This is the second person who has died of the coronavirus in Afghanistan so far. A man died of coronavirus in northern Balkh province early this week.

The Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday announced 32 new cases of the coronavirus in Herat, bringing the total to 80 cases in Afghanistan, including four foreign troops and two foreign diplomats.

The new cases were reported hours after the Minister of Public Health Ferozuddin Feroz in a press conference on Tuesday cited estimates saying that half of the country’s population may become infected with COVID-19.

Feroz said that if the necessary measures are taken, the risk of getting the virus will be reduced, otherwise–based on these predictions–more than 100,000 Afghan citizens are likely to die from the virus.

Positive coronavirus cases in Herat 53, Kabul 7, Samangan 4, Logar 3, Kapisa 1, Farah 2, Balkh 2, Zabul 2, Ghor 1, Daikundi 1, Badghis 1, Kandahar 1, Ghazni 1, Nimruz 1, total 79, deaths 2 and treated 2. (TOLOnews)
