470,000 children to be immunized

MARDAN: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abid Wazir Wednesday said that as many as 470,000 children under the age of five would be immunization against polio in the upcoming drive.

Talking to media after inaugurating four-day polio vaccination campaign here, he said that 1251 teams have been constituted to achieve the target of vaccination, adding that due to efforts of polio teams district Mardan has become polio free by December 2018.

Speaking on the occasion district Nazim Waqar Ahmed said that local government representatives were actively participating in the vacation drive and would be helpful to wipe out the disease from the district. He said the district government was convincing parents to get their children immunized without any fear to supplement the efforts of the government in eliminating polio from the country.
