4857 dengue patients admitted in KTH

PESHAWAR: MTI KTH started free dengue facilitation center providing free treatment to the outdoor and admitted patients including all the tests in pathology department and all the medicines from hospital pharmacy from the mid of July and currently there are 5 admitted.

On the directives of Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and subsequent approval of BoG MTI KTH, a special separate Dengue OPD was established in the hospital.

In free dengue facilitation center the doctors, nurses, paramedics’ staff and laboratory technicians were present round the clock.  24/7 free of cost screening facility is available for the patients.  The dengue facilitation center was functional from 8am to 12 midnight. All the laboratory facilities are being provided free of cost as directed by the Health Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Every patient who visited the facilitation center was examined by the doctor. The patients were screened on spot and if dengue is positive, the patients were sent to the ward otherwise after giving medication the patients were sent back home.

Hospital Director Dr Nekdad Khan and Medical Director Prof Dr Rooh-ul-Muqim were monitoring all the patient care activities round the clock.

Standardize drugs is provided round the clock to the dengue admitted patients. A special pharmacy for the facilitation of dengue patients was established which is providing medicine round the clock with two pharmacists in each shift.

Khyber Teaching Hospital and Khyber Medical College has the most competent and intellectual faculty.  The faculty is providing the best patient care to the patients and training to the undergraduate and post graduate student of KMC. The physicians carried out their routine morning and evening rounds and ensures that facilities are available for dengue patients. All the admitted patients have their relevant investigation twice a day and are treated as advised by the physicians.

Two doctors and two nurses along with supportive staff are on duty 24/7 specifically for dengue patients in every unit.

KTH has a lot of influx of dengue patients. Total Dengue patient admitted in KTH so far are 4857out of which 4787 are discharged and 05 are still admitted in the different units of the hospital.  87115 cases have been screened free of cost for dengue out of which 18371 were positive.
