F.P. Report
KURRAM : At least six people were killed when unknown assailants opened fire on a passenger vehicle in the Lower Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, officials confirmed.
According to police, the attackers targeted the vehicle while it was travelling through the area. The victims’ bodies have been shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.
Law enforcement authorities said the gunmen managed to flee after the attack, while a search operation has been launched. An investigation is under way to identify and trace the perpetrators.
Fragile peace under strain
The incident comes weeks after tribal elders in Lower Kurram and Sadda reached a one-year peace agreement in July, following years of recurring clashes in the region.
During a jirga at the Frontier Corps Fort in Sadda, elders from the Sunni and Tori Bangash tribes, alongside district authorities and security officials, signed the truce in line with the Kohat Agreement.
Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Khan had hailed the accord as a “milestone for regional stability,” crediting the cooperation of tribal leaders and the sacrifices of security forces for peace in the district.
