JALALABAD/KHOST: Afghan officials say seven anti-government gunmen were killed in airstrike in Laghman and an explosive laden vehicle was destroyed in Paktia province.
Afghan Air Force conducted strike in the Sangar Dara area of Alingar district, Laghman province, late Wednesday, killing seven anti-government gunmen, said Sahardi Zwak, spokesman of Laghman governor.
He said a commander, Zabihullah, was among the dead, adding the gunmen were involved in attacks on security forces and emplacing landmines on roads.
Afghan combined forces launched operation nearly 20 days ago in the same district and reached the Sangar Dara area. A large number of gunmen were reported killed and wounded in the operation.
In Gorji area of Zurmat district, Paktia province, Afghan special forces destroyed an explosive laden truck after an airstrike, said Abdullah Hasrat, spokesman of Paktia governor.
He said Taliban also suffered casualties but they had no accurate count, adding the Taliban had prepared the truck for attack.
There was no word by Taliban in this regard.
