MARDAN: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Captain (Retired) Abdul Rahman, a meeting was convened at the Deputy Commissioner’s office to address electricity theft.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Chief Executive Officer PESCO, Tahir Khan, Superintendent Engineer of PESCO Division, Assistant Commissioner Mardan Ayesha Tahir, and additional assistant commissioners, along with representatives from law enforcement agencies.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mardan provided a detailed briefing on the actions taken against electricity theft across the district, with a total of 1,724 complaints sent to respective police stations. Of these, FIRs have been registered against 711 electricity thieves.
The crackdown has resulted in a recovery of PKR 9.756 million in fines imposed for causing losses to the government treasury, and PKR 203.16 million has been collected from defaulters. Chief Executive Officer PESCO expressed satisfaction with the operations conducted throughout the district to combat electricity theft. He emphasized that the provincial government aims to present Mardan as a role model district, free from electricity theft.
