KANDEAHAR: A suicide attack killed at least four police and wounded four others including an officer in Kandahar City, capital of Kandahar province, officials said Thursday.
Acting on prior information, police intercepted an explosive laden vehicle in 2nd Aino Mena area, limits of 11th police station, at approximately 12:00 a.m. (local time) but the driver detonated the vehicle, Azia Ahmad, media officer of Kandahar governor’s office, told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
As a result of the blast, four police were killed and as many wounded, he said, adding deputy head of 11th police station, Niaz Muhammad, was among the injured.
He said the suicide bomber wanted to drive his explosion laden vehicle into Kandahar city. No one claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing.
