LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led Punjab government has extended the parole duration of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and son-in-law for three days to attend the last ritual of deceased Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, on Wednesday.
The former premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar, who are convicts in Avenfield reference and serving terms in the Adiala Jail, were released for 12 hours on Tuesday.
The imprisoned PML-N leaders were shifted to their residence in Lahore amid tight security in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The Punjab Home Department has sent a summary seeking approval in extension to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.
The home department spokesperson said that the time will be extended further if there will be delay in bringing back the body of Kulsoom Nawaz.
Meanwhile, the Lahore residence of Sharif family in Jati Umra has been declared sub-jail after the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and other convicts were brought to the place on parole following the demise of Begum Kulsoom.
Strict security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward situation around the premises of the farmhouse where the former first lady will be buried on Friday.
