Aamir Liaquat declared Nawaz true leader of Pakistan: Ahsan Iqbal

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal stated on Monday that he was part of the meeting during which Dr Aamir Liaquat declared Nawaz Sharif true leader of Pakistan.

Interior minister’s statement came over an hour after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan formally welcomed Dr Liaquat to PTI in a joint press conference in Karachi today.

“For record sake: I was present in a meeting in which Dr Amir Liaqat met Mr Nawaz Sharif in Karachi and requested him to give time for a public meeting saying that NS was a true leader of Pakistan and its only hope,” Ahsan said.

He asserted in his tweet that Dr Liaquat had requested Nawaz Sharif to spare some time for a public meeting.

Imran Khan addressed a joint press conference today in Karachi with Dr Liaquat and television and film actor Abid Ali and welcomed the two to the party.

Dr Liaquat was formerly associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQMP) and announced to quit the party as well as politics last year following a brief detention by Pakistan Rangers over anti-Pakistan tirade of party founder.

Interior minister claimed in his tweet after Dr Liaquat pledged loyalty to Imran Khan, that he had offered the same to Nawaz Sharif earlier.
