BIRMINGHAM (Agencies): South Africa Champions secured the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 title with a resounding nine-wicket victory over Pakistan in the final match held in Birmingham.
Chasing a daunting target of 196 runs set by Pakistan, who were unbeaten in the tournament, South Africa achieved the score with ease in 16.5 overs, losing just one wicket.
AB de Villiers remained unbeaten with a masterful 120 runs, smashing seven sixes and 12 fours. JP Duminy scored contributed with 50, hitting four boundaries and two sixes while Hashim Amla made 18 runs before being dismissed.
Pakistan’s sole wicket was taken by Saeed Ajmal.
Earlier, Pakistan Champions posted 195 runs for the loss of five wickets after batting first.
Sharjeel Khan’s aggressive 76, featuring nine fours and 4 sixes, went in vain. Umar Amin scored 36, Asif Ali made 28, Shoaib Malik added 20, and Mohammad Hafeez managed 17, while Kamran Akmal was out for 2.
South Africa’s Viyajon and Wayne Parnell each claimed two wickets each.
Pakistan Champions displayed great performance in the early stages of WCL 2025 but their bowling was not up to the mark to challenge South Africa Champions’ batter, particularly AB de Villiers.
