Abdullah, US envoy discuss peace process

KABUL: Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdullah discussed the Afghan peace process and prevailing security of the country with US ambassador and secretary of the UN.

According to a press release issued by the chief executive’s office, Dr Abdullah met US ambassador to Kabul John R. Bass. Both the leaders discussed the security situation of Afghanistan, peace process and other important issues.

Dr Abdullah said the Afghan government has taken necessary steps for the Kabul process to pave way for the coordination of countries of the region and world for the restoration of durable peace in Afghanistan.

Both the sides also discussed ways to improve bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

US President Donuld Trump recently abolished talks with Taliban in the wake of the recent spate of attacks in Kabul. Similarly, the Afghan government said that the doors of talks had been closed for Taliban involved in the recent bloodiest attacks in Kabul.

Separately, Dr Abdullah met special representative of UN Secretary General for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto.

Both the sides discussed the recent incidents of insecurity and war crimes of Taliban in Afghanistan.

They discussed the importance of efforts, including war for the restoration of war.

They stressed on the participation of the countries of the region and world for the success of Kabul process.

The Afghan government, international community and other countries have been putting efforts over the past several years to pave way for the restoration of peace to Afghanistan.

However, they are yet to accomplish their goal.
