F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court on Thursday issued bailable warrants for former premier Nawaz Sharif in two corruption references.

Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris pleaded before the Accountability court to exempt his client from appearing in court because of his wife illness.

Prosecutor of National Accountability Court (NAB) demanded from the court to issue arrest warrant as his exemption period of 15 days was over. The court accepted the NAB plea and issued bailable arrest warrant for Nawaz in Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investment Limited references.

Former premier Nawaz Sharif has not submitted surety bonds in the Azizia and Flagship references.

Later, Nawaz counsel Khawaja Harris informed the court that they have challenged Nawaz’s indictment in the Islamabad High Court which will hear the case on November 2. The accountability court adjourned the hearing until 3 November.
