Accountability court puts off graft hearing against Sharjeel Memon

KARACHI: An accountability court on Saturday adjourned the hearing of a graft reference against former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon till February 15 due to the absence of the accountability judge.

Police produced the PPP leader and other suspects in the court as it was to resume their trial in the case pertaining to the corruption of Rs5.76 billion in the provincial information department.

Talking to media persons outside the court PPP leader Sharjeel Memon has said that law of contempt of court should be implemented, adding that the contempt of court cases should also be opened against those people who had committed the crimes in the past.

He said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif targets institutions of the country when his own house caught fire. PPP leader said that law of NAB should be equal in the country.

He denied speculations that Rao Anwar, former SSP Malir was being given protection by some one.

On October 23, Sharjeel Memon was taken into custody along with other accused persons from outside the SHC main building after the court revoked their interim bail in a case pertaining to the corruption of Rs5.76 billion in the provincial information department.
