Advisor’s message on Earth Day 2020

KARACHI: On the occasion of Earth Day 2020, the Advisor to CM Sindh on Law, Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Barrister Murtuza Wahab has said that to control environmental pollution the level of same collective spirit is required as being reflected nowadays against the pandemic of Covid 19.

In his statement issued here on Wednesday, Wahab said that the theme of this year’s Earth Day is Climate Action which calls for joint action by the global fraternity to keep climate change within the range of adaptability otherwise entire world will suffer from its repercussions.

He said that crisis of Covid 19 will not last so long and we will overcome it with our collective efforts but the crisis of climate change can play havoc with our future if it is not controlled seriously.

He lamented that owing to rising trends of mechanization in our daily lives fuel is being consumed more and more causing rise in temperature. As a result glaciers are melting, natural calamities are on the rise bringing on abnormal weather trends which may hit our agriculture produce. So the need of time is to stand united and take concrete steps to contain the menace of climate change.

He asked people to avoid harming environment and adopt a green way of living for a sustainable future of us and of our coming generations.

It may be mentioned that every year Earth Day is observed all over the world on 22nd April to revive the pledge of mankind for making planet Earth a better and safer place to live.
