KABUL (Pajhwok): The High Peace Council (HPC) Secretary Umar Daudzai hailed regional efforts for Afghan peace process and stressed the need for close coordination with Afghan government in reconciliation process.
HPC spokesman Syed Ihsan Tahiri told Pajhwok Afghan News, Daudzai expressed the view during a meeting at the strategic studies centre in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Daudzai is on official visit to Iran.
Foreign ambassadors, experts and representatives of Afghanistan and Iran attended the meeting.
The HPC secretary briefed the participants about ongoing Afghan government and regional countries efforts for peace and reconciliation.
He termed the efforts of regional countries effective for peace and reconciliation and stressed the need for more cooperation and coordination in this regard.
He said Afghans should be aware of all attempts made for peace because the ownership and leadership of peace process was at the hand of Afghan government.
According to Tahiri, Daudzai provided detailed information regarding the upcoming Peace Jirga to the meeting.
