Afghan students offered scholarships

KABUL (Agencies): The Acting Minister of Higher Education met with the Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Ahmed Azam, to discuss the state of higher education in the country.
In the meeting, which was also attended by deputies and a number of heads of the ministry, the Ministry of Higher Education talked about the state of higher education in the country and the problems in this sector, saying that Afghanistan now needs development and progress once again. and achieving these goals will be possible by further strengthening higher education.
He thanked Malaysia for assisting and cooperation and called for further cooperation in the fields of education of the young generation of the country, upgrading of professional capacities of professors, scholarships for students, online facilities for online education for students and other sectors of higher education in the country.
The Acting Minister of Higher Education also suggested that a delegation travel to Malaysia to activate the Nangarhar Islamic University in order to successfully establish the Afghanistan International University.
Later, the Special Representative of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the start of Afghanistan higher education institutions and called for science education important for such a war-torn country.
Malaysia is ready to assist Afghanistan in education, humanities, health and other sectors, he said.
He also stated that the purpose of his visit to Afghanistan was to identify the needs and priorities for starting aid to Afghanistan.
In this meeting, 100 scholarships were also promised to the Ministry of Higher Education by the University of Bukhari in Malaysia.
