Afghanistan defeats Ireland in opening ODI after sealing T20I series 3-0

DEHRADUM (Agencies): The Afghanistan National Cricket Team defeated Ireland in the opening match of the bilateral One Day International (ODI) series, days after securing the Twenty20 International Series 3-0.

Played in Dehradun of Indian, Ireland won the toss of the opening match of bilateral series and chose to bat first.

The Irish batsmen managed to score 161 runs only by losing all their wickets during the 49th over of the game with Dawlat Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman taking 3 wickets each on the bowling side for Afghanistan while Gulbadin Naib took 2 wickets, and Mohammad Nabi and Rashhid Khan taking 1 wicket each.

The Afghan team managed to chase the given target during the 41st over of the game by losing 5 wickets only with Mohammad Shahzad scorig 43runs, Hazratullah Zazai 25 runs, Rahmat Shah 22 runs, Hashmatullah Shahidi 9 runs, Gulbadin Naib 46 runs, Asghar Afghan 7 runs, and Najibullah Zadran 12 runs.

Gulbadin Naib was awarded the man of the match for his outstanding performance in batting and bowling departments.
