KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani has said Afghanistan would emerge victorious on both war and political fronts on the back of the national security forces.

Addressing military officers upon their graduation from a course at the Marshal Qasim Fahim Military Academy in Kabul, the president said security forces were national heroes who fought with national and Islamic spirit in the defense of national honor.

“Now you are under the national umbrella, no matter from which tribe you come. Your recognition is the national armed force and it is the supreme recognition,” he said.

The president said Afghanistan always won on the battlefield but lost in politics and added: “Your president emerged successful due your sacrifices, without your sacrifices my logic could not have won.”

Being the Commander-in-Chief, the president said his duty was the protection of the country and as the president his responsibility was implementation of mega projects.

Referring to the TAPI gas pipeline project, Ghani said the people of Afghanistan and western Herat province now believed uplift projects were not limited to papers only, but they were being implemented.

Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Tariq Shah Bahrami thanked the graduated officers and their families for sending their children to serve the country.

He said 582 officers, including eight girls, graduated a bachelor course at the Marshal Fahim Military Academy.
