‘Afghanistan’s progress to be reflected realistically’

KABUL (Agencies): The Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi received United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Deborah Lyons in his office on Tuesday.
A statement received by this news agency noted that Foreign Minister Muttaqi reminded Lyons of the UN to brief on Afghanistan in security, counter-terrorism, narcotics, and anti-corruption developments sectors on the UN high council.
Ms. Deborah Lyons shared details of her recent visit, and said that no one will support the war and opposition groups against the new Afghan government, mentioning that it is important to be aware of current developments and realities in the country.
She said “Afghanistan’s evolution needs cooperative and inclusive efforts adding current issues need to be addressed through a comprehensive mechanism.
The meeting further discussed many issues and both sides stresses the need for continued coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and UN offices in the country.
