Afghans begging on streets to recieve aid

KABUL (TOLOnews): The economic deputy prime minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, said that around 30,500 beggars will be provided with assistance during Ramadan.
Around 1,600 beggars were provided assistance in the first round. “Around 30,500 beggars are allocated for, and a committee has been formed for them. We will soon provide aid for them,” Baradar said.
Baradar said that efforts are underway to minimize the number of people begging in the country.
Speaking at an aid distribution event for people begging in Kabul, Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar urged non-government organizations and Afghan traders to help vulnerable people during Ramadan.
“We are striving for–and hoping to see– no one begging. We feel ourselves to be responsible for nobody being forced to reach a hand out to beg,” Baradar added.
“The Islamic Emirate is trying to help all people stand on their own feet and no one will be forced to beg from now on,” said Abdul Mateen Rahimzai, head of the Kabul refugees department.
This comes as the people who gathered to receive assistance said they are in critical condition.
“I am in a critical condition. I passed the previous winter in a bad condition,” said Baseera, a vulnerable person.
“I am a widow. I am now facing a bad economic condition; therefore, I want traders and aid organizations to provide assistance to poor Afghans,” said Farzana, a vulnerable person.
More than 30,000 people who beg on the streets of Kabul will be provided with assistance, according to officials.
