KARACHI: Dismissing the possibility of playing Indian Premier League (IPL), former Pakistani skipper Shahid Khan Afridi has stated that ‘I won’t play in the Indian league even if they call me.”
Talking to media, Afridi said, “I curse IPL, the day is not far when Pakistan Super League will be bigger game than Indian Premier League.” Afridi’s comments came after Indian media and cricketers criticized him for his tweet in which the former all-rounder had condemned Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Since Afridi raised his voice against Indian brutalities in held Kashmir and wanted the United Nations to intervene to stop the bloodshed, the Indian media went into a frenzy and started to bring him to disrepute among his millions of fans for his humanitarian stance to support the suppressed people being targeted by Indian forces.
“I stand firm with my statement regarding Kashmir. Indian media is playing negative role. Pak-India relations never improve due to negative role of Indian media.”
Afridi said “I am being dubbed as agent of Pakistan’s intelligence agency. I would have joined Pakistan Army if I were not a sportsman.” “Whatever my military is doing, I am proud of it. I am also a soldier of Pakistan Army”, Afridi said.
