Agha Siraj’s physical remand extended till March 21

KARACHI: The Accountability court in Karachi extended Speaker Sindh Assembly’s physical remand till March 21.

The anti-graft watch dog informed the accountability court about details of Agha Siraj’s assets. NAB prosecutor told the court that Agha Siraj since 1985 has only declared an income worth Rs 8.4M while the assets that have emerged during the investigation are of Rs 360M.

Speaker Sindh Assembly was produced before the court in the asset beyond means case.

NAB prosecutor told the court about the asset details of his family.

‘Agha Siraj’s wife has a property of Rs 2.7M in Abbottabad, whereas she has a bungalow worth Rs 40M in Defense.’

Furthermore, ‘An amount of Rs.150M was transferred to his brother’s account that was also found to have sold an allotted property to a builder.’

Speaker Sindh Assembly complained to the court about NAB’s maltreatment.

’He was not a terrorist who would flee. Since day one he hasn’t been able to get a good night sleep. He has been kept in a closed room where he cannot even here the call to the prayer,’ he said.

‘His family was being harassed and their telephones are tapped by the authorities,’ he added.

The Accountability Court extended Speaker Sindh’s physical remand till March 21 and ordered NAB to submit the progress report in the upcoming hearing.

During the hearing, the courtroom was filled with the chants by the PPP supporters.
