ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal has approved development budget of Rs 45 billion for Higher Education Commission (HEC) under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2018-19.
Ahsan Iqbal chaired a meeting of Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) in this regard. On the occasion Ahsan Iqbal said that it is very important that we should promote the higher education if we really want to compete with the developed nations of the world.
Minister added that it is the responsibility of every citizen to get education and provide opportunities to the youth of higher education and adding that government is trying to promote the research and quality education.
The minister directed the HEC authorities to prepare doable projects to ensure more competitive higher education based on modern techniques and technology.
The current government has increased the HEC development budget by over 135 per cent during previous five years.
