Ahsan shows concern over educated youth joining extremist groups

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister, Ahsan Iqbal has expressed his worries over the joining the terrorist groups by our educated youth and adding that we needs to stop elements who are poising our youth and depicting a false picture of world to them.

Interior Minsiter said this while presiding over a meeting regarding the implementation of National Action Plan (NAP) which was held at Higher Education Commission (HEC) in which total of 80 Vice Chancellors of different universities of the country participated in it.

Ahsan Iqbal stressed on the participants to make sure that our youth can use social media in positive way and not became a tool of the extremists and allow them these forces to use our youth against us.

It was a mutual responsibility of every individual to take part to keep our youth from these fanatics in the better interest of the society and Pakistan, Ahsan added.

Interior Minister added that we need to adopt a new strategy and narrative to counter the possibilities of extremist though among the youth. The importance of peace, in the light of Islam and vision of Pakistan, should be highlighted to the students and we are making a syllabus for Jumma sermon so that people could know the basic problems and issues of extremism in the country.

He stressed on the teachers to play their positive role and help the students in their character building and promoted tolerance among the public and he also suggested that September 21 should be observed as ‘Peace Day’ in the universities with a purpose to spread the message of harmony among the youth.
