Akhtar Mengal indicates conditional support of ‘Reconciliation Pact’

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Akhtar Jan Mengal has indicated his conditional support for the ‘Reconciliation Pact’, on Tuesday.

According to the report, Akhtar Mengal said that democracy is not strong but has been on ventilator for 15 years.

Akhtar Mengal expressed his fear of big operations in Balochistan once again.

Talking to media he said everyone has raised the slogan of contract of economy and contract of reconciliation.

Is the Prime Minister really serious or honest about it? If the prime minister is serious he must order to release the political prisoners, he said.

We prisoners of Balochistan are considered prisoners of war and not political prisoners, Akhtar Jan Mengal said.

He said at least those who are political prisoners should be released.

The first brick of reconciliation is to grow democracy and the first principle of democracy is free media, said Akhtar Mengal.

“If you want reconciliation, Asad Toor and Imran Riaz and other journalists should be released”, says BNP chief.

If he takes this step, then we will understand that he is really serious about reconciliation, Akhtar Jan Mengal said.

He said Balochistan’s deprivations have been felt since 1947, not today and this feeling is now turning into a feeling of deprivation and is still a threat.

It seems that this sense of deprivation will increase further as there is a danger of a 1973-style operation in Balochistan, Akhtar Jan Mengal expressed concern.

The last three assemblies have completed their constitutional term on ventilators and Socrates, Akhtar Mengal concluded.
