Ali Sadpara’s son heading to K-2

ISLAMABAD: Sajid Sadpara son of the renowned Mountaineer late Ali Sadpara aiming to follow the footprint of his late father Ali Sadpara to find out the genuine reason of the demise of his father and his teammates, who got martyrdom some four months ago during his mountaineering campaign to ride over the world number 2, Mount Godwin Austin /K-2 in early February this year.

Sajid Sadpara was sharing his intentions with media men during a news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday. Sadpara Junior informed the media men that he is going to K-2 top in next coming few days in a bid to find out the truth about the sad demise of his father along with Icelandic Mountaineer John Snorri and Chilean National Juan Pablo Mohr.

While recalling the history, Sajid Sadpara said that in the beginning of February this year, he, his father Ali Sadpara along with John Snoori (Icelandic) and Juan Pablo Mohr (Chilean National) went to the base camp to climb the world number 2 highland during the winter. They were joined by a Canadian film maker Elia Saikaly and Mr. Fazil Ali, who climb the K-2 thrice in his lifetime.

According to him, his father had climbed 8000-meter-high top in the past in winter, whereas John Snorri had already attempted to climb K-2 in winter during the past. According to Sajid Sadpara he does not know what happened to his father and his colleagues, however, he wants to know genuine reason of his father’s death.

Sajid Sadpara informed the media men that his father along with other two men John Snorri and Juan Pablo Mohr had climbed the K-2 in Summer during the past and were fully aware of the condition and features of the mountain. He admitted that he knows, his father is not alive, but he wants to know the conditions which led to his death. He may get some clue, or some message left by his father Ali Sadpara for him during his last breaths.

Sajid Sadpara thanked to all those who helped them in search of his father and other mountaineers, he particularly thanked to Pakistan Army for its sincere and potent search and rescue operation for recovery of his father and his colleagues after they went missing in early February 2021.
