Ambassador Masood Khan meets Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui

WASHINGTON: Lauds the growing visibility of Pak-American community, terms the community an abiding link of Pak-US relations

Ambassador Masood Khan visited U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and met Pak-origin Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui at his chamber. Upon reaching E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse, Masood Khan was warmly received by Judge Zia M. Faruqui who accompanied him to his chamber.

Honorable Judge Zia M. Faruqui is the first Pakistani-American to serve as US Magistrate Judge and was appointed to this post on September 14, 2020.

He received a B.A. and J.D. from Georgetown University. Following law school, he was a litigation associate at Willkie Farr in Washington, D.C., where he focused on government investigations and general commercial litigation.

Judge Faruqui then served for twelve years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in St. Louis and Washington D.C.

Judge Faruqui is also member Board of Advisors of Muslim American Public Service. Besides, he is also member of Advisory Board of renowned Georgetown Law School.

During meeting with the Ambassador, bilateral cooperation especially in the area of education and student exchange program was discussed.

Noting growing visibility of Pak-US nationals in mainstream of US life, Ambassador Masood Khan termed them an abiding link between Pakistan and the United States.

Masood Khan said that it was a matter of pride for the community to see growing role of Pakistani diaspora, making their valuable contributions towards the US society.

He extended an invitation to Judge Faruqui to visit Pakistan which the latter accepted.

Ambassador Masood Khan along with the officers of the Embassy also witnessed court proceedings in the court of Honourable Judge Zia M. Faruqui
