American university students call on Army Chief Bajwa

RAWALPINDI: A delegation of students of Cornell University, the United States, on Saturday called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

On this occasion, the army chief shed light on Pakistan’s experiences in the journey towards peace. He lauded youth’s role in development of the country.

“Youth are playing their full role in development. We have got numerous achievements through bravery of youth against terrorism,” he said.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa said youth of Pakistan were talented and committed. He said young people were the leadership of the future. “They have a crucial role to play in every sector.”

The American students said Pakistan was a beautiful and peaceful country and they were taking back with them pleasant memories with them.

“We will portray real picture of Pakistan in the US,” they said.

The students visited Lahore, Hunza, Islamabad and the Parliament House.

On April 5, US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad had called on the COAS, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said.

The ISPR had said in a statement that Zalmay Khalilzad visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) and held an important meeting with the Army Chief.

Both high-ups had exchanged views on matters relating to regional security and ongoing Afghanistan reconciliation process.

The US envoy had acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace across the region.
