ANA troops among 8 dead in attacks

KABUL/HERAT: Taliban gunmen killed four people including Afghan National Army (ANA) troops, police and civilian in Logar and Herat provinces, officials said Tuesday.

The Taliban ambushed ANA troops in the Waghjan area of Muhammad Agha district, Logar province, Tuesday morning, killing two soldiers and a civilian, said Salim Salehm spokesman of Logar governor. He did not give further details.

Shahpur Ahmadzai, spokesman of Logar police, however put the ANA death toll at three.

The Taliban had also killed five local police in the same district the other day.

Meanwhile, a clash took place between local police and Taliban in the Deh Goon area of Obeh district, Herat province.

According to Herat police, a local policeman was killed and two more wounded in the gunfight. Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi, however, said two cops were killed and another wounded in the attack.

In Rabatha are of the same district, Taliban gunmen allegedly torched two marble supply vehicles and seized drivers, police said.
