ANDMA and ActionAid sign agreement to support flood-affected families

KABUL (BNA): Mullah Nooruddin Turabi, the acting head of the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA), met with Simon Wankor, the head of programs and acting director of ActionAid organization, and his accompanying delegation at his office, where they signed a joint cooperation agreement.

The ANDMA announced today that, during this meeting, Mullah Nooruddin Turabi encouraged ActionAid organization to implement more relief and infrastructure projects. He also highlighted the urgent needs of flood-affected residents from Murghab District who have been displaced to the center of Ghor Province. He stressed that, with winter approaching, emergency assistance must be delivered to these communities.

“As we expedite the work of organizations, we expect them to also enhance their efficiency in operations.” He added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Simon Wankor, the head of ActionAid, expressed appreciation for ANDMA’s collaboration with humanitarian organizations.

He also mentioned ActionAid’s plan to provide rental assistance for displaced flood-affected families currently residing in the center of Ghor Province.

Notably, ActionAid will construct permanent shelters for 100 families at a total value of $550,588. This includes 29 shelters in Ferozkoh Center, 24 in Shahrak District, 22 in Chahar Sada District, and 25 in Murghab District. Each family will receive a total of $2,700 in three installments over three months to support home construction.

Additionally, as part of this project, ActionAid plans to construct four community buildings across these four districts, with a budget of $80,000. The organization will also establish four fully equipped kitchens to provide meals for project staff.
