The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has informed the nation on Monday, that the cases of COVID-19 infections are on the rise in the country and NCOC recommended making mask-wearing mandatory on all domestic flights, railways, and public transport within the country.
The Situation of COVID-19 pandemic was largely under control after the fifth wave of the pandemic in February, with a countrywide less than 1% positivity rate except Karachi where the figures had been fluctuating over the past months. After a pause of almost four months the pandemic took rebirth and infection cases had increased over the past two weeks.
According to the data shared by the NIH, as many as 382 new Coronavirus cases were reported positive out of 13, 412 tests throughout the country during the last 24 hours. According to the data shared by the NIH,13, 412 tests throughout the Country and positivity rate remained 2.85 percent showing a gradual upward trend in the pandemic resurrection.
Earlier, the government had removed all restrictions including isolation of the COVID-19 potential cases, termination of COVID-19 SOPs from domestic and foreign travels, lockdown of premises, residential areas, restoration of commercial activities as well as resumption of the social and educational activities across the country. The vaccination drive was practically come to an halt, while former PTI government had announced the closure of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), but the incumbent government opposed the decision of the shutting down of the state of the art National Command and Operation, which supposedly has to combat the 6th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The federal government has directed the provinces to restart vaccination campaigns for remaining segments of the society along with administration of booster doses on a priority basis to further improve protection against virus transmission. The government is also stressing on the importance of safety precautions, including social distancing, mask-wearing and avoidance to attend mass gatherings. Apparently, the rebirth of the pandemic is a result of the past shortcomings, therefore, the entire nation must play its part religiously to defeat the pandemic once for all.
