Another woman dies of dengue in Peshawar, tolls mounts to 55

PESHAWAR: One more female patient died of dengue virus here on Saturday and it brought the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to 55.

Also, 455 more people were diagnosed with dengue in the province, the majority of them in the provincial capital.

The latest dengue victim Marriyam was under treatment at Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) where she breathed her last despite all out efforts of medics.

According to the Dengue Response Unit (DRU), 1,574 patients with fever were taken to different hospitals in the province, where 455 tested positive. Of them, over a 100 patients were admitted in the hospitals. As per DRU data, about a hundred patients were discharged from hospitals.

The DRU said that currently about 350 dengue patients were being treated in the hospitals.
