ANP to commemorate Bacha Khan Week today

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) is all set to mark the Bacha Khan Week and 100 years of the Anjuman Islahul Afghan from Wednesday (today).

According to a statement issued here on Tuesday, the inaugural event will be held at Bacha Khan Markaz in Peshawar on Jan 20, where ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan and central and provincial leaders will be in attendance.

Besides, a public meeting will also be held on Jan 23 at Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar to mark the 33rd death anniversary of Bacha Khan and 15th death anniversary of Abdul Wali Khan.

The statement said the 100 years celebration of Anjuman Islahul Afghan would be commemorated to keep Bacha Khan’s mission alive. Seminars, music programmes, speech competitions, ‘Musharias’, book launching ceremonies, books stalls and papers presentation on the life of Bacha Khan would also be part of the week-long celebrations.

It added that people from different walks of life, including intellectuals, poets and writers, would be invited to the events.

The ANP sister organizations, including Malgari Wakeelan, Malgari Doctoran, Pakhtun Students Federation and Malgari Ustazan, will arrange different events.

The concluding event, a Pashto musharia, will be held in Swabi.

A statement from the Bacha Khan Center in Peshawar said that in the inaugural ceremony, the Nangyala Pakhtun Volunteer Force (Salaran) would present salutation to the provincial president, a grand public meeting will be held near Northern Bypass on January 23 in which thousands of workers will participate.

A seminar on natural resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will be held on January 24. Free blood donation by fellow doctors on the same day. A camp on “Role of Women in the National Movement” will be held on January 25. ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan will be the chief guest in the closing ceremony. After Saturday Bacha Khan, year-round celebrations will be held across the country while the 100-year events of Anjuman Islahul Afghan will continue until Dec 2021.
