ANP will always support democracy: Zahid Khan

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party Senior leader Senator Zahid Khan has said that his party would not support any unconstitutional move to dissolve provincial assemblies and parliament instead; they will strive for the supremacy of constitution.

Senator Zahid Khan while speaking at Peshawar press club program ‘ “Guest Hour” said that there are rumors that the elected federal government will prematurely be ousted and technocrats would assume power.

Senator Zahid Khan added that he did not see any kind of activity which speaks for early election as the election commission has already raised hands over the prevailing situations right after the census.

“The election commission of Pakistan has not yet started  homework for the upcoming general election in 2018 and after the census forming new constituencies and seat adjustments will take some five to six month more and it appears that the general elections will delay”. He said.

Referring to Fata reforms,Senator Zahid Khan said that Fata should be immediately merged with KP before 2018 general election.

Senator Zahid Khan informed the media persons that his party has always supported Fata merger with KP and on various plat form have raised the issue of Fata.

Senator Zahid Khan termed the recent census drive in Fata as the botched-up attempt to hide the real count of tribesmen adding that he said that the total population of Fata was shown in five million while Fata hosts more than ten million peoples.

Meanwhile Senator Zahid Khan came hard on PTI-led government in KP and said that the PTI-led government has failed to bring real change in KP as all the institutions are at the brink of collapse.

The recent NA-4 election is self-evident of the institutional breakdown of KP department that how various departments were used to attain votes, he added.

He further added that after eighteenth amendment provinces got greater autonomy but the current KP government has failed to materialize those benefits obtained via eighteenth amendment.

Senator Zahid Khan said that only ANP has clear insight into the miseries of KP and they will work for the betterment of general masses if given an opportunity in 2018 election.

He also criticized the KP government for not obtaining their due rights in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

Lashing out on Chief Minister KP for his lavish protocol at government expense he said that Indeed it is a good gesture on the part of PTI Chairman Imran Khan that he criticizes disqualified Ex-prime minister Nawaz Shareef for his lavish protocol but on the meantime he (Imran khan) should also take notice of his CM’s pompous protocol at wedding ceremony in Mansehra where government resources was relentlessly poured in the form of using helicopter and luxuriant official vehicles for travelling.

Senator Zahid Khan also criticized the federal government by saying that the federal government has snatched all the benefits of CPEC from our hands while refusing to provide fund for dam’s construction.

“All the fruits of CPEC go to Punjab in the form of vast network of Motorways, industrial units, and investment opportunities.” He said.
