Apex court directs NAB courts to decide on NICL references within 10 days
LAHORE: The Supreme Court ordered accountability courts to decide National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL) the mega land corruption case within 10 days.
Former NICL chairperson Ayaz Khan Niazi, Mohsin Habib Warraich, and then commerce minister (late) Makhdoom Amin Fahim, and several others were accused mega corruption case and in the purchase of official land.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar headed the special three member bench on Thursday at the Lahore registry. The bench directed the accountability courts of Lahore and Karachi to decide all four references in the case within 10 days.
The bench also ordered to arrest Mohsin Habib Warraich, the main accused in the scandal and presented him before it. The apex court also summoned records of all cases pending in the accountability courts of Karachi and Lahore.
During the hearing, Supreme Court shows displeasure over the lack of headway in to the NICL corruption case, CJP Mian Saqib Nisar it looks like the NAB is not interested in ending the case which will not allowed delaying the case.
Ayaz Khan Niazi, the other central figure in the land scam, was arrested earlier this month on the directives of the Supreme Court.
