Apex court to hear contempt petitions against Imran, Nawaz today

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will hear contempt petitions against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, former prime and former chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Wednesday.

The petition against Imran Khan was filed by senior lawyer Naseer Ahmed Kiyani and accused him of making derogatory remarks against Iftikhar Chaudhry, former CJP.

Moreover, the court will also take up contempt of court petitions against Nawaz Sharif and Iftikhar Chaudhry. The petitions have been filed by lawyer Riaz Hanif Rahi.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar, will hear the contempt petitions.

On March 14, the apex court had dismissed contempt petitions against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and federal ministers Daniyal Aziz and Khawaja Saad Rafique.
