APS attack survivor wins Youth Parliament elections

PESHAWAR: Waleed Khan, a brave survivor of gruesome terrorist attack at Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar, has earned laurel for countrymen by winning Youth Parliament elections in Birmingham (England).

Waleed Khan, who was the most critically injured victim of APS tragedy as he received eight bullets, six in the face,  is now a days in England for treatment, informed Ejaz Khan, uncle of the student.

Talking to APP here on Tuesday, Ejaz Khan expressed pride over achievement of Waleed Khan and said it reflects `patience and resilience’ of Pakistani nation.

“Our child has proved to the world that Pakistanis are brave nation and have the ability to overcome every kind of tragedy and trauma,” Ejaz remarked.

He said Waleed is undergoing different kind of plastic surgeries and other treatment for recovery of his damaged tissue on face and gum. The treatment will take years and Waleed will remain in England till its completion.

About election in Youth Parliament, Ejaz said 1,23,000 students applied for selection as members. Out to the total applicants, 14 were short listed for election and finally Waleed become elected.

Ejaz said Waleed will represent Pakistan in the Youth Parliament of Birmingham and on return share his experience with his fellow students and countrymen.
