ARCS, IFRC collaborate to rnhance psychiatric care

KABUL (BNA): Sheikh Shahabuddin Delawar, the Acting Head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), recently met with Nisifor Mghendi, a representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), to discuss vital support for the provision of drinking water at a psychiatric care facility.

During the meeting, Delawar expressed his gratitude for the financial assistance previously provided by the IFRC and emphasized the ongoing need for support in caring for psychiatric patients in Afghanistan.

Mghendi noted the IFRC’s commitment to enhancing mental health services in the region. He referenced a recent visit by local IFRC head Alexandre Matheiu to the psychiatric care facility, which resulted in an allocation of $50,000 to support these critical services.

In addition to financial support, Mghendi pledged the IFRC’s continued cooperation in expanding the ARCS’s reach and capacity, including initiatives for first aid training across Afghanistan.

The partnership between ARCS and IFRC highlights a shared commitment to enhancing mental health services and providing essential care to those in need in Afghanistan.
